It's a small question, but it shapes a parent's whole morning — whether to have their child wait at the door or head out now, whether a five-minute delay is nothing or a sign something's wrong. For years, the only honest answer was "check the schedule and hope." NexaRide exists to replace that hope with an actual answer.

Connecting to your child's route

Getting started takes a few minutes. A parent downloads NexaRide, creates an account, and enters the organization code provided by their school — each school or district site runs as its own connected organization, so routes and rosters stay cleanly separated even across a whole district. From there, they add their child as a passenger, either with a passenger code from the school's transportation coordinator or by entering their details manually. If a school requires it, the parent then selects their child's pickup and drop-off stops directly on an interactive map in the app.

Families with more than one child, or with kids at different schools, aren't limited to a single passenger — a parent can add as many as they need and track all of them from one account.

Watching the bus arrive, live

Once a child is linked to a route, their passenger card shows a Track button on that route. During an active shift, tapping it opens a live map: the vehicle's position updates in real time over a live connection, numbered markers show every stop along the route in order, and a line traces the road path the bus is actually following. A connection-status indicator makes clear whether the map is live or reconnecting, so there's never any doubt about whether what's on screen is current.

Outside of shift hours, the Track button doesn't just sit there inactive — it shows a countdown to when the next shift starts, so there's no need to guess when tracking will open back up.

Notified the moment it matters

Live tracking answers "where is it right now." Notifications answer "did I miss anything." NexaRide sends a push alert when the trip starts, when the vehicle arrives at a child's assigned stop, and when the trip is completed — plus updates if the school changes a route or schedule. Each notification type can be turned on or off individually, and stop-arrival alerts can also go out by email, so a parent doesn't have to keep the app open to know their child boarded safely.

Built for however your family actually gets around

NexaRide isn't limited to one child on one route. A parent can connect to multiple organizations — a school and a company shuttle, for instance — and switch between them from the app's header. For schools using Bluetooth beacon attendance, a beacon can be linked to a child directly from their passenger card, so boarding is detected automatically without anyone needing to scan a code by hand.

The result is the same visibility a transportation office has over its entire fleet, scoped down to exactly the one thing a parent actually cares about: their own child's ride, and knowing — not guessing — where it is.
